LEVI J. DITZLER
Levi J. Ditzler, Ephrata, died Saturday in the Ephrata Community Hospital. He was ill for the past 18 months, but was bedfast for less than a week.
Born in Ringtown, April 23, 1900, he was a son of the late Milton and Ruth (White) Ditzler.
He had been a foreman at Maple Hill Colliery for 45 years before locating in Ephrata six years ago He was last employed by the Rail and Industrial Division of the Amherst Barge Company.
The deceased was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Mahanoy City, and the Shenandoah Elks Lodge.
His first wife, the former Catherine Campbell, died in 1955.
Surviving are his second wife, the former Anna (Schlemmer) Shaughnessy, Jacksons; and five children: Mrs. David (Eleanore) Bennett, Wood Park, Colo.; Mrs.
Thomas (Rita) Fatula, Shenandoah; Mrs. Carl (Catherine) Centofanti and John, Ephrata; Capt. Harold, stationed with the Air Force at Waco, Texas; and two stepsons, John Shaughnessy, Rockville, Conn.; and Peter Shaughnessy. Mahanoy City.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Michael (Myrtle) Havern, Mrs. Wayne (Verna) Breisch, Ringtown; and Mrs. Claude (Eleanore) Broscious, RD 1 Ambler; eight grandchildren and 4 step-grand-children.
The funeral wil be held Thursday at 1 p. m., from the Jane Clifford Ritz Funeral Home, 19 East Mahanoy street, Mahanoy City, Rev. Edward Foster, Maha-noy City, and Rev. Daniel Shearer, Ephrata, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mahanoy City Protestant Cemetery.
Friends may call tomorrow at the funeral home. The Shenandoah Elks will conduct services tomorrow at 8 p. m.
